Support from BMA is enabling the CQLGA to make a positive difference to CQ's future environment through the EarthSmart Schools Program. The EarthSmart Schools program fosters long term benefits for the environment and future generations through waste management education and practical projects. Through this program schools:
Participating schools engage in a fun way to learn about the importance and positive outcomes for waste minimisation practices. All EarthSmart Schools are positively contributing to the important world issues of waste management and environmental sustainability. The program represents a great achievement for all involved.

![]() EarthSmart Schools Program - Why RegisterWith the school year reaching its final stages and attention turning towards next year, now is the perfect time to register for Central Queensland Local Government Association’s EarthSmart Schools program. The program, supported by BMA, encourages schools to actively participate with CQLGA in reaching a reduction of 50% waste to landfill over a time frame of three years.

![]() Materials Recovery Facility Travel SubsidiesSchools are encouraged to make the trip to the CQ Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and witness the recycling process first hand. As further incentive to visit, schools will be eligible to receive a $200 reimbursement to subsidise the cost of travel to the MRF. |
